RESEARCH / 01
THIS IS A WEBSITE PREVIEW — an illustration of Cairn’s ideas, not the native app or its Chromium engine.
Try the command menu ⌘ K
JavaScript is needed for the interactive preview. Cairn’s details and download links below work without it.
THREE WAYS TO KEEP YOUR PLACE
02—03 / THE DETAILS
A little structure.More room to think.
01
One Space per thread
Keep research, projects, and everything else apart. Each Space remembers its own tabs and layout.
02
Keep the useful bits
Pin the pages you come back to. They stay close while the rest of a session changes around them.
03
Two pages. One thought.
Split the view when you need to compare, follow instructions, or keep a reference in sight.
UNDER THE SURFACE
03—03 / ENGINE STATUS
The web should feel like the web.
Cairn’s Chromium source build embeds the real Chromium Embedded Framework, with modern rendering, JavaScript modules, and responsive CSS.

CURRENT DOWNLOAD WebKit v0.1.0
CHROMIUM BUILD Experimental
The historical v0.1.0 preview uses WebKit. Current source builds and future releases use Chromium exclusively, with separate Apple Silicon and Intel downloads. Chromium remains experimental: its pinned CEF release trails Chrome stable, and Developer ID signing and notarization are not complete. It is not a hardened replacement for your everyday browser.
MADE TO BE OPENED UP
Make it your own.
Cairn is an independent, clean-room project—not a fork of Arc or affiliated with The Browser Company. The source is Apache-2.0 licensed. Read it, build it, make it yours.

Try the developer preview
Homebrew installs the published universal WebKit preview for Apple Silicon and Intel.
brew install --cask mrashrhodes/cairn/cairn
Ad-hoc signed, not Apple-notarized. macOS may block it. Do not disable system security protections to run it.
